Facebook monitors how much you interact with friends and brands. Those people and brands that earn your engagement–liking, sharing, commenting and so on–are more likely to appear in your newsfeed. The people and brands you tend to ignore eventually disappear because Facebook (correctly) interprets that you simply do not find their content interesting.

When you hear the term website architecture, what do you think of?   It does not refer to the colors on your website or your CSS stylesheet, but the actual structure of your website and its purpose.  It refers to the funnel that leads your customers from a page, to a point of interest, like a “buy now” button, or an email subscription form. It refers to the function of your website and its webpages.

Every page of your website should have intent. For example, before you “design” a page, you need to determine what the page should accomplish and then create the page structure to make that happen.

Resp0ndents to a recent survey said they Liked a brand on Facebook, over half of them said they did so to get something in return, meaning – something for free.

So perhaps some of your success on Facebook should be tied into giving consumers want they want.  Give them something in exchange for their Liking your page and then keep them engaged with interesting content and yes keep the discounts, promotions, free stuff coming, too.

More than a billion people now log into Facebook each month to check up on old friends, tag photos of new ones and post about politics, religion, cats or what their kids are doing.
That’s double the 500 million it hit in July 2010 – what now seems like a lifetime but was little more than two years ago.

A new study recently reported that small businesses are using social media and are finding it helpful, and they are focused on business outcomes as a means of measuring their progress.

The top two measurement metrics are 1) traffic, and 2) # of new customers
One of the most interesting findings of the study was the divergent views of online influence. For example, 40% of small businesses prefer a smaller but highly engaged audience, while 27% would prefer a huge following with little engagement.

All cell phones constantly broadcast a radio signal, even when not on a call. The cell phone companies have been able to estimate the location of a cell phone for many years using triangulation information from the towers receiving the signal. However, the introduction of GPS technology into cell phones has meant that cell phone GPS tracking now makes this information a lot more accurate – like Trackster. Take a look – http://bit.ly/Ig9leH

Econsultancy and Adobe found in August that 57% of companies around the world said the deepest level at which they could track the effectiveness of social media marketing was in terms of engagement, such as the number of followers, comments and time spent on social pages.
Respondents were most likely to tell Econsultancy and Adobe that they were using social media as a brand awareness channel, with more than six in 10 agencies and companies indicating this.
The companies surveyed were most likely to be active on Facebook and Twitter (86% each), followed by YouTube and LinkedIn.

eMarketer reports that online video ads is one of the fastest-growing online ad formats. Research also shows it is one of the most effective.

Analysis shows that the performance of a variety of display ad formats served in the US during June, including in-stream video ads, and video player-ad interfaces, performed dramatically better than both standard banners and banners involving rich media, with or without video.
